The metal door of the workshop was locked. Liam stared at it, his jaw clenched. He’d arrived early, eager to show his mentor, Mr. Henderson, the latest modifications to the prototype. He’d imagined Henderson’s approving nod, the shared camaraderie of creation. Instead, the workshop stood silent, shuttered, and Liam felt a sudden, inexplicable tightening in his stomach, as if a fist had clenched there.
