Maya stared at the glowing screen, her jaw hanging slack. It couldn’t be. The account name was the same, the formatting, the inside jokes, all of it. A wave of nausea rolled over her. She felt a lightness in her head, like she was floating just above her chair.

She stumbled to her feet, pacing her living room. How? When? Her diary, a sacred, deeply personal artifact, now public fodder. The thought sent a jolt of ice through her veins. “Oh, God,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

She bit her lip, a habit she’d long forgotten. A knot formed in her stomach as she imagined her peers reading her innermost thoughts – the crushes, the insecurities, the silly dreams. This couldn't be happening.
