"Well, that's just fantastic," muttered George under his breath. He stared at the glowing screen: "Samantha Jones sent you a friend request." The words seemed to jump out at him, mocking him. He leaned back in his chair, the sudden movement causing it to creak.

He could feel the familiar weight in his chest, a heaviness he hadn’t experienced in years. He felt suddenly hot, a wave of heat washing over him. He felt the need to get some fresh air. He stood up abruptly and walked toward the open window, as if the cold breeze would help quell the unease.
