The information slammed into her like a physical blow. Her breath caught in her throat. She closed her eyes, trying to regain her composure. The numbers swam before her eyes. It didn't make sense. She had years of experience. She'd mentored and trained others. And yet, the new intern, barely out of college, was being paid a higher wage. She felt a burning sensation in her chest.
