The realtor had warned Sarah about the attic: “Might be a few things left behind.” Sarah had dismissed it. Now, crouched amidst the shadows, she understood.

She navigated the cluttered space, her hands brushing against forgotten treasures. A tarnished silver tea set, a collection of old photographs, a trunk filled with clothing. It felt like walking through someone else's life.

Then she found it. A child's drawing, tucked under a loose floorboard. Crayoned stick figures and a smiling sun. Her stomach did a flip. She picked it up, her fingers tracing the faded colors, and she was speechless.
