David, usually a creature of habit, nearly missed it. He was focused on his grocery list, and nearly dumped the mail into the recycling bin. But something—a flash of color—caught his eye. A card.

He retrieved the envelope. No name. Just his address, penned in elegant script. He opened it with a sense of… something he couldn't name. The message: "Wishing you a happy day." Simple, understated.

He stood there, frozen, his hand still holding the card. He felt a curious, tight knot in his chest. A warmth spread through his face. He quickly glanced outside, then closed his blinds, the feeling amplified by the privacy.

He took a deep breath, trying to dispel the feeling. He reread the card, over and over. He wasn't sure what to do with it.
