Gemotions

The flickering neon sign of the diner cast long shadows as Ben wiped down the counter. He had just finished his late shift and was eager to go home. A forgotten wallet lay near the till. He picked it up. Inside, nestled amongst credit cards and a driver's license, was a roll of cash, far more than he'd earned in the last month. His hands began to tremble. He held the wallet at arm’s length, as if it might bite him. His mind raced, calculating, assessing. He felt a weird, detached sensation.
