Gemotions

The doorbell rang, startling Jessica. She peeked through the peephole. A delivery person. She signed for the package, then retreated into her apartment, a small tremor running through her. It was a large, brightly colored envelope. She knew before she opened it.

She ripped it open, her fingers clumsy and fumbling. Inside, a postcard featuring a picture of her old high school, now a rundown relic. She felt a strange buzzing in her ears. A flood of forgotten faces and memories washed over her. She dropped the postcard, the sudden weight of it almost unbearable.
