He sat frozen, the phone still clutched to his ear. His sister, Emily, the free spirit who'd always scoffed at sentimentality, was selling the Victorian locket. The locket had held their mother's picture.

A sudden, sharp pain lanced through his temples. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribs. His hands were shaking so badly that he could barely hold the phone. He hadn't expected this. Not from Emily.
