Gemotions

The ornate, gilded mirror, his great-aunt's pride and joy, was to be sold. His aunt's words hung in the air, heavy and blunt. A cold, hard knot formed in his stomach.

He felt the blood rush to his ears, making a low roaring sound. He felt a desperate need to say something, anything, but the words wouldn't come. He blinked rapidly, as though trying to clear his vision.

The reflection in the mirror seemed to mock him, a distorted image of his disbelief. He looked at his aunt, her face set in a determined expression.
