The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the lawn when the delivery arrived. Sarah watched the delivery driver pull away, leaving a small box on the porch, addressed to "Mr. Harold Blackwood." She had never heard that name. The previous tenant had been a woman, as far as she knew.

She paused on the steps, her hand hovering over the doorknob. She found herself unexpectedly intrigued. The mundane object before her was suddenly a beacon of mystery, pulling her forward.

She carried the box inside, her movements deliberate. The air felt charged with something she couldn't name. She carefully sliced through the tape. Inside was a small, velvet-lined box. Inside, was a key.
