The coffee cup nearly slipped from David's grasp as he read the names posted on the bulletin board. His eyes, usually sharp and focused, swam with uncertainty. His name, next to Carol’s. Carol, who frequently took extended lunch breaks and rarely stayed past 5 PM. His mind was racing, a chaotic mix of elation and bewilderment.
