I blinked, my mind struggling to process the contents of the letter. An eviction notice. It didn't make sense. I’d always been a responsible tenant.

My hands began to tremble, and I dropped the letter on the kitchen table. The cold, sterile surface seemed to mock me. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and I reached out to steady myself against the wall. This felt unreal.
