Gemotions

The flickering fluorescent lights of the hospital waiting room swam before Amelia's eyes. She clutched the worn paperback in her hands, her knuckles bone-white. Across from her, a man with a shock of unruly grey hair was talking animatedly on his phone, gesturing wildly. Every so often, he would glance at her, a knowing glint in his eye. When he finally hung up, he turned to her, a curious look on his face. "So, you too, huh?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow. Amelia just blinked, her mouth opening and closing soundlessly like a fish.

"You have... Reticular Dysplasia as well?" the man continued, his voice softer now. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees. "I haven't met anyone else with it in, well, ever." Amelia felt a flush creep up her neck. She managed a small nod. He grinned, a wide, almost manic expression. "Fantastic! This is... unexpected."
