Gemotions

The world felt out of focus, the words blurring on the open page. The book, titled “The Gardener’s Garden,” was lying on the kitchen counter. He felt as if someone had pulled the rug out from under him. His partner, Thomas, a landscape architect, was a man of the earth, not of the written word.

He picked up the book, his hands shaking. The first chapter recounted their idyllic life together, filled with vibrant descriptions of their home. Each sentence was a delicate, yet forceful, portrayal of their lives together. The way he knew him so intimately was shocking.

“Thomas!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking. He could hear Thomas in the garden, whistling cheerfully.
