Gemotions

"What the heck?" Maya said, staring at the strange object she'd unearthed. It was a small, plastic container, buried shallowly in her backyard. Her mind felt completely blank. She hadn't buried anything. She shook it, and heard a rattle.

She pried the lid off. Inside, a handful of smooth, river stones and a single, folded note. The note, written in her own handwriting, said, "Remember." She felt a confusing jumble of feelings. A prickling sensation spread across her skin. She had no recollection of this.
