Gemotions

The flyer slipped from David’s grasp, fluttering to the floor like a dying bird. He bent to pick it up, his movements stiff, mechanical. His breath escaped in a shaky exhale. Condo. He'd never considered this possibility.

He felt the blood drain from his face, leaving him feeling lightheaded. He leaned against the kitchen counter, needing support. He took several deep breaths, trying to steady himself.

David lived in this building with his wife. The place held a lot of memories. The idea of leaving it was unthinkable.

He picked up the phone, a sudden compulsion to call his wife. The dial tone seemed to drone on and on, an unsettling background noise to his unfolding panic.
