Daniel was relaxing on the couch, flipping through channels when he saw the admissions website pop up. "Student Voices: Essays that Inspired Us." He thought nothing of it, until he recognized a familiar title: "My Escape to the Stars." His pulse quickened. He nearly leaped from the couch.

He leaned forward, his elbows digging into his knees as he focused all his attention on the screen. A tremor went through him, and his heart started to pound in his chest. His essay, his private thoughts, laid bare for public consumption.

He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture he often made when feeling unsettled. A nervous giggle escaped his lips.
