The envelope was thick, heavy with the weight of glossy paper. Inside, a book; "The Unfolding of Amelia Hayes." Her picture, a candid shot from a college graduation, stared back at her. Her breath hitched. She had not consented to this.

She sat at her kitchen table, a cup of tea growing cold beside her. The writing was flowing and eloquent, yet something felt off, like a carefully constructed illusion. The author had seemingly been inside her mind, detailing her innermost feelings, her deepest fears. A shiver ran down her spine.

She ran her hand over the cover, the embossed title feeling sharp and accusing. She went through her address book, searching for anyone who could have had access to such intimate knowledge. The list came up empty. Her heart began to pound a frantic rhythm.
