Gemotions

It was an insult, a blatant insult. I, Sarah, the veteran, was asked to show this kid, this *Andrew*, the ropes. I wanted to scream. I bit down on my lip, drawing blood.

“So, the client list…” I said, my voice betraying my inner turmoil. I pointed at the screen. He nodded, but his eyes, they wandered. I felt a strange sense of being scrutinized.

He asked simple questions, the kind you’d expect from a first-day intern. But, the manner in which he asked, the too-casual tone, the way he seemed to be making mental notes…

I caught him looking at my desk drawers when I went to the restroom. My blood ran cold, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. My own personal belongings… was he taking inventory? I returned quickly, feigning as if I was looking for a stapler, as I wanted to catch him red handed.
