Gemotions

The clicking of the mouse was the only sound in the otherwise quiet office. I watched, my jaw clenched. She, this "resource," sat across from me, and the way she watched me at every move made me feel trapped.

"So, the coding..." I said, the words caught in my throat. I gestured at the screen. Her own finger mimicked my movement. She knew too much, somehow.

It was almost too easy. She picked things up with an unnerving quickness, as if she already knew them. The way she smiled.

I found myself double-checking my work, my code. I caught her eyes in a mirror reflection, and they were like a hawk's.

I felt a chill, a deep, pervasive cold that settled in my bones. I was no longer sure what to trust, what was mine.
