The dim lighting of "Angelo's Pizzeria" usually fostered a sense of cozy intimacy for David. Now, the shadows seemed to lengthen, the familiar smells of garlic and oregano felt somehow off, tainted by a sense of foreboding. He saw Angelo, normally jovial, talking intently on the phone.
