The old house creaked around Elena as she examined the photograph. She was alone, in the living room, trying to sort through the family albums. She paused at a picture of her aunt, her father's sister, a woman who had always been a fixture in her life.

In the photograph, her aunt was leaning into a man, a man who was clearly not her husband. The two were stood in front of a fancy restaurant. The setting was so different to the simple life she had lived.

Elena felt a surge of confusion. She replayed conversations in her head, searching for clues, for anything that might explain the inconsistency. She began to feel a deep uncertainty.
