Rain lashed against the window as I stared at the message. “Meet me at the coffee shop on Elm Street. I… I’m in trouble.” My online friend, "SunshineSkies," had sounded increasingly distressed lately. My stomach twisted.

I grabbed my coat and raced out into the downpour. The coffee shop was nearly empty. Then I saw her. It was Sarah, the cashier from the grocery store, always friendly, always smiling, her usual bubbly facade a little faded now. She sat alone, her hands clasped tightly, tears silently streaming down her face. A lump formed in my throat, I felt a deep ache within.

I approached her slowly, my own worries instantly evaporating.
