A wave of heat washed over Daniel as he watched Mark, the new guy, fumble with the filing system. It was such a mess, and Mark looked so utterly lost, a young man swimming in a sea of paperwork. Daniel sighed internally. He knew the feeling.

He spent the first hour reorganizing the chaotic stacks of documents. He explained the color-coding system, the cross-referencing, the whole Byzantine dance of it all. He thought about his own early days, the mistakes, the mountains of forms he’d misfiled.

He even bought Mark a coffee, a small gesture of camaraderie in the face of inevitable change. He smiled, a genuine gesture, as Mark started to get the hang of it, the initial confusion slowly giving way to a tentative confidence.
