The university cafeteria, usually a vibrant hub of activity, felt bleak and sterile. Alex, pushing his untouched tray of food away, watched as the security guard led Olivia out of the room. The accusation, of course, had already circulated through the grapevine. Olivia, the bright, enthusiastic student with a passion for history, a student that Alex had known for years.

He knew how much Olivia cared about her work. He’d witnessed her meticulous research, her genuine desire to learn.

He felt the muscles in his jaw clench, and his fists ball up. He remembered how hard she worked. The thought of her facing such a severe penalty turned his stomach. He wished he could teleport over there.
