The courtroom was vast, imposing. The air was thick with tension. Across the room, against the backdrop of imposing oak panels and stern faces, sat Emily. She was being accused of plagiarism.

Liam, who’d sat next to her in class, who knew her dedication, who’d seen her struggle, felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. He recalled the countless hours Emily had devoted to her studies, the sacrifices she'd made, the way she would offer help.

He wanted to scream, to protest, to do anything to alleviate the pressure, but he knew he couldn’t. He could only watch as the courtroom moved forward, holding his breath as the prosecutor spoke. He clenched his jaw, willing her to be strong.
