The air in the bustling kitchen seemed thick with judgment. Chef Anya reread the review, the words a bitter taste in her mouth. The critic had savaged her experimental use of insects, declaring them "unpalatable and offensive." Anya's stomach churned, feeling as if she had failed her staff.

She usually thrived on the energy of the kitchen, but today she felt drained. She watched her team work, their faces focused.

She forced herself to move, to taste the sauce they were working on, and gave a brief nod. “Season it a bit more, please,” she said, her voice tight but firm, the familiar ritual of instruction a small comfort. This was for them, she thought, and then she went to her office.
