The vibrant colors of Chef Marco's plates seemed muted today. The critic's scathing assessment, "lackluster and uninspired," hung over the dining room like a pall. He looked around the empty tables, the cheerful setting now seeming hollow.

He leaned against the back wall, his body slumped. He imagined the other chefs who were struggling, their own restaurants and menus being questioned. He felt a deep sense of brotherhood, the shared burden.

He heard the scraping of the chairs from the kitchen, and he wanted to escape. He looked to his team and decided to stay, a faint determination hardening his gaze. He began to plan the next menu.
