Gemotions

The chipped paint of the yard sale sign practically screamed for attention, but David's gaze was fixed on something far more significant. There, amongst a pile of discarded toys, sat Barnaby, his childhood teddy bear. He was worse for wear, his button eyes hanging loose, a patch stitched haphazardly onto his worn belly. A tremor ran through him.

He hesitated for a moment, then reached out, his fingers tracing the faded fur. He hadn't thought about Barnaby in years. A sudden welling of emotion choked him. He remembered the comfort the bear had given him during a difficult childhood.

“How much for the old bear?” he asked the man running the sale, his voice a low rumble. The man named a price, and David immediately pulled out the money, handing it over with a feeling he couldn't quite define.
