Gemotions

Rain lashed against the bookstore window as Eleanor thumbed through a worn copy of *Wuthering Heights*. She wasn't really looking for anything specific, just a respite from the loneliness that clung to her like damp wool. The scent of old paper and dust always calmed her. A small, folded piece of parchment fluttered out as she opened the book. It was a letter, penned in elegant cursive.

Eleanor sat at a small, round table, the flickering gas lamp casting dancing shadows on the page. The letter spoke of a broken heart, of lost love, of a desperate plea for understanding. Her fingers traced the delicate handwriting, feeling a pang of sorrow that resonated deep within her chest. She imagined the writer, alone and in pain, pouring their soul onto the paper.
