The silence in the room was deafening. John had always been the black sheep of the family. He knew he didn't share their values. Now, the test confirmed it. He wasn't even *their* sheep. He stared at his father, a man whose gruff exterior had always masked a deep affection, and saw the man's shoulders slump slightly, a flicker of something close to regret in his eyes. He felt a sharp pang of concern for the man before him. He wanted to reach out, to reassure, even though his own world had just tilted on its axis.
