She nodded slowly, barely registering the words. All her life she’d dreamed of opening a bakery. Now, this new oven design – the core of her vision – was blocked. The lawyer's words seemed to grow distant, like they were underwater.

She stared out the window, at the bustling city below, suddenly distant, unreachable. She felt a profound sense of loss, as if a vital piece of her life had been snatched away.
