The clinking of champagne glasses and the murmur of conversation swirled around David. His father, a brilliant scientist, was retiring. David watched his father, a man who found joy in the intricacies of equations and the elegance of data, and felt a strange tug. His father was stepping away from his life's work.

David started his speech, speaking of his father's relentless curiosity, his dedication to research. He described his father’s excitement, and how he often said the same thing as he was about to discover something new: "Let's see what happens!" He talked about the hours of isolation spent in labs, the challenges overcome, the breakthroughs celebrated.

He finished his speech, his throat tight, knowing that this was not merely an ending, but a new chapter. He knew his father would continue to work, but it would not be the same. The thought made his heart ache a little. David knew he was fortunate to have such a father.
