Liam stared at the ‘Follow Request Accepted’ notification. Ms. Davies, his English teacher. He hadn't expected it. He’d posted a lot of personal stuff, venting about his parents and how bored he was in general. Now, she’d see it all.

He considered blocking her, but that felt… mean. Instead, he scrolled through her profile. Lots of pictures of her cats, and some poetry she wrote. It made him pause. He'd never really thought of his teachers as people, just… teachers.

The next day, during the lesson on Shakespeare, he noticed her. Her usual bright demeanor seemed dimmed. She kept her gaze at the front, and didn’t make the same jokes she usually did. He felt a stab of… something akin to remorse. He'd been so wrapped up in his own feelings, he hadn’t considered hers.
