Gemotions

The sight was overwhelming. The sheer scale of the damage made it difficult to breathe. The massive pine, a landmark in the neighborhood, had fallen. It had completely demolished the Smiths' gazebo and had torn up their manicured lawn. The storm had left a mess.

I felt a pang in my heart. This was going to be a massive undertaking. I knew how much the Smiths loved that gazebo, how they enjoyed their evenings spent there. I knew I couldn’t just stand by.

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith?" I called out, hurrying across the lawn toward their front door.
