Gemotions

The pounding bass resonated through the floorboards. Sarah winced, instinctively reaching for the volume knob on her own stereo. It was low, barely audible, but the vibration was undeniable. She knew the feeling. Her elderly neighbor, Mr. Henderson, would be hearing it even louder.

She’d heard him shuffle out onto his porch a few minutes ago. A tense silence hung now, thick and heavy. Sarah glanced at the clock – ten past midnight. She could only imagine his discomfort.

Quickly, she grabbed her coat and stepped out into the chilly night. Approaching his door, she noticed a faint light spilling from beneath it. She knocked, softly at first, then a bit louder.
