Gemotions

The sound of sawing filled the air. My new neighbor, Ms. Rodriguez, was on her patio, looking at the dead tree in her yard, which leaned precariously over the property line. She flagged me down, her face drawn.

"I need to remove it," she said, her voice tight with stress. "But…" She trailed off, gesturing to the shared fence.

I knew this was a stressful time for her, moving in and trying to settle her family.

“Let me see what I can do," I said, feeling a warmth spread through me as I looked at her tired, overwhelmed face. I would call a tree service and see if they could do it. Maybe we could split the cost.
