Gemotions

The hospital cafeteria buzzed with a cacophony of noise, but Liam felt only the dull ache of his own body. He found a table and saw the other person had taken a seat already. The man sitting opposite him was staring down at his plate, the food untouched. Liam knew how it felt.

He sat down and said, “Looks like you’re not feeling too hungry either, huh?”

The other man finally looked up and shook his head slowly.

“Yeah," he replied, looking away. "It's hard, isn't it?"

Liam nodded, feeling a welling in his chest. A shared struggle. A shared understanding.
