Gemotions

It was a physical book, a hardback novel hidden at the back of a bookshelf. James, an avid reader himself, saw the title, “The Shadow in Her Soul." He recognized his girlfriend's handwriting immediately.

The story was about him. It detailed their relationship, seen from Chloe's viewpoint. The James in the novel was cold, distant, and emotionally unavailable. He felt shame.

He sank to the floor, the book clutched in his hands. He felt a wave of sadness. He wanted to fix everything. He wanted to change. He closed his eyes and began to cry.
