Sweat beaded on Elias's forehead, tracing a path down his temple. He compulsively checked his watch for the tenth time in as many minutes. The departure board flickered, mocking him with another delay announcement. His sister's wedding. He needed to be there. He needed to see her face. He needed to give that speech. He ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, the gesture doing little to calm the agitated rhythm of his heart. The stale air of the airport seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe.

He slammed his fist lightly against the armrest of the seat. He thought about calling his sister again, but he stopped. The last time, her voice had been so joyous, so filled with anticipation. He didn't want to ruin that with his news. The automated voice chimed, yet another delay. He stood up, pacing back and forth, the polished floor reflecting the frantic energy that was consuming him. He had to be there.
