“Just…explain yourself,” Professor Davies said, his voice flat. Aaron shifted in his seat, the plastic chair creaking under his weight. He swallowed, the lump in his throat making it difficult to speak.

He hadn’t slept well in days. The accusation, whispered through the university grapevine, had become a heavy weight upon his shoulders. He felt an incessant pressure building behind his eyes.

He began to explain, his voice a shaky whisper, but the words felt clumsy, inadequate. Each syllable felt like a burden, and the room seemed to shrink with every moment. He wished he could just disappear.
