The library, normally a sanctuary of peace, was now a source of distress. I sat in my usual corner, books open, but my mind was blank. Professor Albright, the librarian who always knew where to find the perfect text, had left. A simple, cold notice had replaced her. I felt the familiar burn of tears at the back of my eyes.
