Gemotions

John sat frozen in the waiting room chair, the harsh fluorescent lights of the doctor's office glaring down. His hands were clasped so tightly they ached. The doctor's words replayed over and over in his mind, each repetition twisting the knife a little further.

His breath came in short, shallow gasps. He found himself scanning the faces of the other patients, looking for... what? Sympathy? An answer? He didn't know. He just wanted this feeling to stop.

He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to run, to escape the confines of the room, to flee the information that was slowly suffocating him. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, his head in his hands.
