Gemotions

The silence in the car was deafening. Alex stared out the window, the passing scenery a blur of color. The radio blared in the background, but he couldn't hear the music. He had been so sure. All the hard work, the sacrifices, the dreams. They had seemed so real.

"It's okay, son," his father said gently, breaking the silence. "There are other opportunities."

Alex felt a burning sensation in his throat. He clenched his jaw, fighting to hold back the tears. He wanted to scream, to rage, to break something. He closed his eyes, desperately trying to regain control. He looked up, and looked out the window again. The world seemed to be moving in slow motion.
