The new environment was a stark contrast to his old. He usually reveled in the bright lights and open spaces of the accounting department, but now he was confined to a small, cluttered office in the research division. The silence felt oppressive. He found himself staring at the screen of his computer, unable to concentrate.

A coldness settled in his chest, making it hard to take deep breaths. He glanced at the clock every few minutes, longing for the lunch break. He couldn't seem to shake the feeling of being watched, of being judged.

His new colleagues tried to be friendly, but their attempts at conversation felt forced. He just wanted to be left alone.
