Gemotions

The waiting room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He felt a constant, jittery energy coursing through him. He couldn’t sit still, fidgeting in the hard plastic chair, legs bouncing. His gaze darted from the clock on the wall to the people around him. Each rustle of paper, each cough, amplified the growing sense of unease. He'd envisioned this evening a thousand times, and the thought that it was gone sent a cold shiver down his spine. The phone rang in his pocket, and he nearly jumped out of his skin. The voice on the other end was apologetic, and his shoulders slumped.
