Gemotions

Daniel stared at the invitation, his eyes narrowed. It was a perfect rectangle of judgment. He crumpled it in his fist, then almost immediately smoothed it out, as if ashamed of his initial reaction.

His apartment suddenly seemed stifling. He needed air, space to think. He threw on his jacket and went outside. He began to walk, his pace accelerating, his gaze fixed on the sidewalk.

He was acutely aware of his heart pounding in his chest. Each step was a measured response to an unseen challenge.
