Gemotions

The flyer slipped out of the envelope and fluttered to the floor. Ben stared at it, his face pale. He took a slow, deep breath, trying to steady himself. He bent and retrieved it, then slowly read the list of names.

He felt a tightness in his chest. It had been a lifetime ago, it seemed. But the memories… they were not gone. They were like a phantom limb, always there, always aching.

He wanted to scream. He wanted to run. He just wanted to disappear. He sank into a chair, the invitation clutched tightly in his hand.
