The vibrant colors of the art gallery felt dull, the paintings blurred. Chloe usually found inspiration in this space, but today the only feeling she got was constriction. Her gaze flickered, unable to settle on any one piece. The scholarship, the lifeline that bought her art supplies and gave her the freedom to pursue her passion, was taken away.

She felt a pressure building behind her eyes, the familiar precursor to a sob. She fought it back, clenching her jaw. She gripped her sketchbook, the smooth paper suddenly feeling rough. She wanted to scream.

She slowly made her way to the exit, the world spinning slightly around her. She had to get outside, to breathe.
